HI JOHN

The type is so feminine. The Lula script font in a delicate pink definitely says “girl of my dreams” and reflects the soft waves of her hair. I also love the placement because it looks like the type is a crown, which is a wonderful choice because they could have easily set it against her shirt but they chose not to.

I like this one because of the repetition. Instead of being overwhelming it’s actually very calm and simple, like waves. The subtle indent used to space out the typography is a nice touch as well. By mixing expanded with compressed type in a muted colour scheme the poster is very clear ad easy to read.

This is really clever how the used the fruit for the typography. It makes the ad really interesting and fun to look at. The negative space also gives the bottle some room to breathe and us some space to read the small white text. Very nice.

Another example where physical objects stand in for typography.
Its simple and easy to understand with both the bare bushes and leafy bushes being easy to read. Having the logo of the company on the watering can was a nice touch as well instead of simply placing it beneath. Very pleasing.

Clear, clean, simple and clever. By simply reducing the font weight they’ve managed to convey the meaning of the sentence with both the words and the letterforms. The one lung at a time in brackets is understated yet shocking, which works beautifully.

Though the type here is obviously 3D rendered and stretched around significantly this ad still presents a beautiful silhouette. By having the months of the year make up the car they’re effectively implying that the financial decision associated with leasing a car is an easy, sound choice for the consumer.
Having the small triangles come in on the red boarder was also a beautiful way to carry on the style of HSBC’s logo.

A fantastic christmas ad by IKEA. Why simply tell you whats on sale when they can go so much further? Aranging the furniture to look like text while still making an aesthetically pleasing home is another impressive feat. I would love to have my house look this beautiful and festive for the holidays.

By removing just a few letters Guinness managed to make a simple ad which plays on their instant recognizability. Subtle but it has a great impact and it puts their name in your head without them having to splash it everywhere.

Another great holiday ad by IKEA. Simple and effective and easy to see from a distance this 3D billboard works just as effectively as the print counterparts. Very interesting.

This is really fun. By knocking out the text on the actual label it forces you to read the words through the bottle. The type changes as the liquid moves around creating an impressive effect for what amounts to fairly simple typography.

Great print ad for printers. Again, this is an ad that conveys the meaning of the text with the forms of the text, not just what they letters say. Very nicely rendered and photographed as well.
